Netflix has shown in recent months that they are as adept at making hasty, half-baked decisions as they are at recycling the Starz channel's programming slate. We assumed their strategy would never get more bewildering than the above email from CEO Reed Hastings containing a weepy mea culpa, followed by the mind-boggling announcement that they were rebranding their DVD-by-Mail service as "Qwikster." Alas, the emails didn't stop there. Check out the follow-ups below to try and figure out what's going on with everyone's favorite soon-to-be-out-of-business in-home entertainment provider.

@Glynn, I am so incredibly impressed that you are the ONLY person in the entire world reading this and able to figure out these are not, in fact, actual e-mails from the CEO of Netflix/Quikster. The rest of us certainly thought they were entirely real and true. Thank you for your post pointing out the truth or we'd all have been duped forever.

I actually feel bad for Reed Hastings now. Poor guy, he just wants to feel the love.

This is all a justification for greed....the real american way...notice in the first email the idiot believes the customers are upset about some inhumane announcement....MORON...the customers are pissed about a 70% price increase regardless of announcement style....jerkoffs.

You mean Qwakster, or are you talking about streaming, then it's still Netdix. Love the satires, not feeling the love for the disc service.

I'm laughing so hard I'm crying. Good stuff.

This is hilarious. I like netflix too, but yeah, that email in my inbox threw me off at first. I still subscribe, but just the streaming, cancelled the dvd's with the price change.

I have watched more than 400 dvds from Netflix. It is a great resource and a bargain as well. I am more than pleased with their selection of current films, foreign films and independant films as well. I hope Netflix continues to do well.
