Newspaper prints important interview with local racist.
NEWSPAPERS

Nothing says "getting to know your neighbors" like immediately alienating them with your virulent, unapologetic racism. It seems like this guy's answers might have warranted a few follow-up questions from the reporter, such as "Do you think it's fair to make sweeping, bigoted generalizations like that?" or "Are you the main character from Gran Torino?" But perhaps Richard's neighbors can ask him themselves. His house is easy enough to find — it's the one with the 12-foot barbed wire fence around it.

@ TF..actually yes. And when my English Luthern single divorced grandmother moved into a Polish Catholic neighborhood it was the equivalent of a Wiccan moving into an Evangelical neighborhood. My dad used to be unmercifully picked on even in public school. This was back in the late 40's end of WW2 era...

If he had said lazy or dirty or criminal or bigoted or racist people, he could have referred to unsavoury folk from any cultural group. Assuming that such qualities are that of only a single group is ignorant - thus, racist.

I wonder if someone said the same thing when the Polacks moved into the neighborhood....

That would be racist and obscene. "Hispanics out" is merely racist.

  • Zack Kelsoe | 10/18/2011 flag  |

    "Fuck Beaners!" would be racist.

"Hispanic" is a race. If bemoaning their appearance as "the worst" thing that could happen, and "getting rid of them" as the solution isn't racist, I don't know what kind of examples you need.

  • Zack Kelsoe | 10/18/2011 flag  |

This is not at all racist.

  • Annette | 10/18/2011 flag  |

You can tell he's brilliant and incisive from his answer to "do you plan to stay, move on, and why?" - "yes..."

  • Drew | 10/18/2011 flag  |

So do you ack ... on the top of your head. Or perhaps just on your hood.

Fuck racism the guy has a point.
