Oh come on, I'll eat everything on that diagram with the possible exception of vegans, and even I can see it's not that hard. Not diabetic, no soy allergies. Serve dhal, beans, lentils, tempeh or tofu for protein. Rice, buckwheat, quinoa, potato or sweet potato for carbs, any veg you like with olive oil for fat, and fruit for dessert.

OK....this is funny! I have several of these high-maintenance folks in my own family. We're not whining -- just laughing about how true it is when you have a growing family!

how does having an allergy make you high-maintenance or "insane"? it is not a choice. it is ignorant to imply that it is.

Hey now! Most of us Seattlites don't appreciate the high-maintenance, allergic-to-EVERYTHING dinnerguest, either!

Blech. Stay home and eat your own cooking.

You all are ridiculous...with your whining and what not... How many of you saps are from Seattle?

duh, vegans don't eat eggs or dairy, so this is a bit redundant. in regards to allergies nowadays, perhaps get your kids off commercial foods and go for more organics. studies have shown that the more children are exposed to the commercial, industrial food system (even in the womb) the more prone they are to developing allergies. you're right, it is certainly an epidemic that is consistent with our poisonous, corporate controlled food system.

1 in 13 kids now has at least one food allergy. Look it up - It's an epidemic. My kids are allergic to milk, eggs, and in one case, peanuts. We've had two trips to the ER because my son's throat swelled up and inhibited his breathing due to accidental exposure. To any of you who have children, think about how stressful it is to manage this. And yes, we do bring our own food to places, but it's wonderful when someone accommodates my kids' challenges and helps them feel included by making some food they can eat. Being food-allergic isn't some kind of a choice people make.

Wow, can people really be allergic to eggs? I wouldn't think that possible, since it's not, like, one constant material. And do you really need egg allergies and lactose intolerant when you have vegan in there?

  • Flower2184 | 11/25/2011 flag  |

Precisely why people like me bring their own food to events. People who don't have to deal with the possibility of a side dish sending them to the ER don't know how lucky they are.

I can do one allergy, and that's it. If you have any other dietary needs, go somewhere else.

Sweet potatoes and green beans it is!
